As you might have heard, there’s a new Aston Martin in the works! Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing Formula One team have banded together to create a force to be reckoned with in the automotive industry: the AM-RB 001. And wow, there’s no denying the grandness of this hypercar. Oh ya, it also doesn’t technically have real doors. Yes, that’s right, we have a “Doorless" Norse Force to be Reckoned with. Well, not quite, as Jalopnik explains, the doors are circular hatches that are not fit for normal human entry. That being said, there is still a heck of a lot to be said about this car even with its unusual doors.
Check out the amazing video from Aston Martin; it gives me chills, guys.
The Aston Martin AM RB 001, aka the Valkyrie is the latest in Aston Martin’s amazing hypercar lineup. Adding to their 50 year legacy and joining the likes of the Vanquish, the Vulcan, the Virage, and of course, the infamous Vantage, this hypercar was aptly named for the Norse symbol of power and honor. As mentioned in the March 6, 2017 press release, this car, much like the mythological creature, is one that is chosen by the Gods.
Aston martin explains the significance of the name Valkyrie:
Hear it from the CEO, Andy Palmer himself:
Unfortunately, this Aston Martin hypercar is really just for the gods, as only 150 units will be produced and sadly all of them are spoken for. Darn, I was just about to order one too… Oh right, it has an estimated $2.6 to $3.9 million price tag. One can always dream though!
Now seems fitting for you all to watch the new Aston Martin Valkyrie launch video. They really build the hype.
The Valkyrie is going to be available to its lucky owners in the next year or so. The hypercar is expected to be stocked with an all-new 6.5-liter V12 engine housing upwards of 1,000 hp and maxes out at 9500 rpm. The estimated top speed is estimated to be 250 mph and it will have a 0-200 time sprint of 10 seconds. The AM-RB 001 is also going to be extremely light, with a total weight of 2,200 lbs.
There are three visionaries to be thanked for spearheading this unprecedented hypercar: starting with Aston Martin’s Marek Reichman, the Chief Creative Office, as well as the British luxury automaker’s Chief Special Operations Officer and VP, David King. And last but not least, one of the most successful F1TM designers in the world, Red Bull Racing’s Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey. Oh to be in a room with these guys! No wonder the hypercar is as monumental as it is. The two designers’ main vision in designing the AM-RB 001 was to make it not only useable, but also very enjoyable. David King, will now make this vision a reality and manufacture the highly aerodynamic car at Aston Martin’ Gaydon factory.
At the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show, the world finally got a closer look at the Aston Martin hypercar. As we all know now, the Valkyrie is no myth!
